It was a Spidey surprise during the Disney Experiences presentation. Disney confirmed that a new Spider-Man attraction would be coming to Hong Kong Disneyland. Disney revealed minimal details that the story will follow Tony Stark inviting his Stark Industries intern Peter Parker to showcase some new inventions, but Doc Ock is going after these inventions. This leads to Spider-Man protecting the tech and inventions.
The ride system looks to be the Tower of Terror system. Truthfully from the concept art, it looks like it will be a Spider-Man vs Doc Ock version of Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout. This should be a blast and I don’t think this attraction or concept was on anyone’s radar. It’s always fun when Walt Disney Imagineering delivers a true surprise.
The new attraction will be the third pavilion to open at Stark Expo in Tomorrowland at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering, will be overseeing the Spider-Man-themed projects across the globe. Trowbridge led the creative team on Universal’s The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.
