‘Rogue Squadron’ Will Likely Move From December 2023 Release Date

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy says the film is “further off”

Patty Jenkins was supposed to direct Rogue Squadron which was set for a 2023 release date. Now Rogue Squadron is unlikely to make its December 2023 release date. Patty Jenkins remains on the project, a hopeful sign that Lucasfilm won’t just a “creative differences” on this one.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said that Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron was further off. Rogue Squadron was originally scheduled for a 2023 release date so a delay or change has to be imminent.

Kathleen Kennedy also revealed they have a road map for Star Wars theatrical releases again, and they are going to see where Rogue Squadron fits within it. Kennedy also mentioned that Patty Jenkins was developing the script further.

Rogue Squadron was unlikely to make its release date for multiple reasons but now it seems it will happen at some point. Just not in December 2023. Will another Star Wars film take that December 2023 slot? That seems unlikely right now but never say never. If I was Disney I would probably just move a Marvel Studios film into that slot. Give the fans something on Avatar off years.

Rogue Squadron is coming soon to theaters.
