Thoughts on ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Sizzle Reel

Marvel’s First Family gets the Marvel Studios’ treatment. Here are our thoughts after seeing the The Fantastic Four: First Steps sizzle reel.

During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Marvel Studios unveiled footage for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The cast which includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach sent in a video as they are currently filming in London.

The vibes are outstanding from the footage shown. The retro-futuristic vibe works extremely well, and any doubts about the casting should be put to bed once you see this footage. I wouldn’t be shocked if this footage was spliced together and released to the public at some point. I also think it would be wise for Marvel Studios to throw this film into that November slot so it can avoid the crazy summer season at the box office.

Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards was fantastic. I’m excited to see a bit more from Kirby, Quinn, and Moss-Bcahrach. The story just from the footage feels fresh and I’m excited to learn about their world. It’s exciting after all these entries into the MCU getting to explore a brand new universe. The final beat of the footage shows Galactus looking into the Baxter Building and we get a good look at H.E.R.B.I.E. as well.

I’m excited for the ride we’re about to go on here. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said The Fantastic Four: First Steps is inspired by the 1964 World’s Fair. The vibes are great and the direction from Matt Shakman (WandaVision) feels distinct and wonderful so far.

Starring Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/Thing. The film also features Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). Directed by Matt Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and featuring music by Oscar®-winning composer Michael Giacchino.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25, 2025.
