Disney Cruise Line announced today that for the first time, the lounges on a Disney Cruise Line ship will be Disney Parks-inspired venues.
Most people when they think of Disney nowadays think of Disney Animation, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel. Yet, there are so many great stories in the Disney Parks and even classic Disney tales like Walt Disney’s 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
The Disney Treasure is going to embrace that nostalgia and lore from these beloved theme park attractions with its new lounges.
Skipper Society,a themed lounge near the Grand Hall, will bring Disney Parks’ iconic Jungle Cruise attraction to sea for the first time. Guests will discover references to the famous attraction, throughout the space. The lounge will be a playful atmosphere just like the attraction is.
I’d expect this space to go heavy on the references to S.E.A. (Society of Explorers and Adventurers) and other Jungle Cruise adjacent attractions/experiences. Skipper Society will be a space where guests will indulge in themed cocktails, light snacks, and enjoy live entertainment.
Periscope Pub will become Disney Cruise Line’s first venue inspired by Walt Disney’s 1954 film, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and the celebrated Disney Parks attraction that was open at Walt Disney World from 1971 to 1994.
The pub’s design will be similar to the submarine-style interiors and will call upon 19th-century steampunk influences. The pub will also feature a mysterious window into the uncharted oceans along with a ceiling that will make guests feel like Captain Nemo on the Nautilus. The venue will be a locale for guests looking to watch live sports. The pub will also have a menu of craft brews and light bites.
Disney Treasure is going all in on adventurous properties and that continues with the addition of Jungle Cruise and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
We had a Haunted Mansion lounge on our list of predictions. We sure hope that one happens.
