The ‘Avatar: Way of Water’ Hype Train Starts Now

The first teaser was released in the previews of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.

The highly-anticipated sequel looks to return audiences to the bioluminescent world of Pandora.

Ahead of my showing of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. I saw as many others have the first glimpse at the sequel. I have to say that the footage impressed me. I’m a sucker for Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and this teaser reminded me of that.

After watching this teaser trailer I thought to myself did Disney pull off a reverse synergy on me? Usually, it’s the franchise that makes people like the attraction. Not the attraction that makes people like the franchise. In this case Avatar at Animal Kingdom has made me more of a fan than I expected.

The teaser was a bit weird but it was visually stunning. I think that will be normal for the Avatar franchise. Avatar: The Way of Water will center on Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Na’vi Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and their family.

I’m super curious about how this one will perform come December, and if Disney will get their next mega-franchise out of it. A lot is riding on it. As we have Avatar sequels scheduled until December 2028.

In my fairest opinion, I wouldn’t underestimate James Cameron. He is looking to deliver another big one and there is some pent-up demand from older generations to see this film (my Grandpa may be the biggest Avatar fan I know). The sequel has been a long time coming and the film will be released in a ton of different formats. Once again, I’m intrigued at the box office prospects of the sequel as well. In 2009, Avatar became the top-grossing film of all-time at the worldwide box office, with more than $2.8 billion.

Avatar: The Way of Water releases on December 16. The film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Vin Diesel, and Kate Winslet.

And the hype train for it begins right now.
