The new, highly anticipated series ‘Star Wars: The High Republic’ will be launched at a later release date due to general marketplace delays. This massive storytelling initiative was originally planned to be released later this year.
In a letter from Lucasfilm publishing Creative Director Michael Siglain, the massive series launch date has been moved to next year.
“Given these unprecedented times, we have made the decision to move the launch of ‘Star Wars: The High Republic’ to January 2021 to ensure that the launch is as grand and epic as it deserves to be,” Siglain said in a letter.

‘The High Republic’ is an immense series that will establish a new era of Star Wars storytelling, taking place hundreds of years before the ‘The Phantom Menace,’ when the Jedi Knights and the Republic were in their prime. The series will introduce new original heroes, villains and adventures that don’t overlap with planned films or series in production.
The stories about the Jedi and the Republic that have only been uttered throughout the saga will be told across several platforms like comics and writings distributed by multiple publishing companies like Del Rey publishing and Marvel.

“‘Star Wars: The High Republic’ is a massive, interconnected, cross-publisher initiative that will establish an all-new era of ‘Star Wars’ storytelling,” Siglain said in the letter.
The series’ stories come from Star Wars highly rated authors Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, Daniel Jose Older, Cavan Scott and Charles Soule who are continuing to work on the series despite the moved dates.
Back in February, when the series launch was initially announced, Star Wars released the first wave of story titles that were initially scheduled to be released in August. ‘Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi’ was going to be released at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim with other titles following.

So far, Lucasfilm has announced these titles in the series:
While not much is said about the series content or the stories, Siglain teased a potential Q&A or informational livestream from the authors scheduled for sometime this summer to tease raiders about what they have in store for the series.
“And while I still can’t say much about it, I can tell you that our story architects are continuing to work away on this new era of stories. You’ll hear from them this summer,” Siglain said in the letter. “‘Star Wars: The High Republic has been a true labor of love for us, and we can’t wait for readers to experience the golden age of the Jedi.”
