Oscar-winner Olivia Colman looks to be heading to the MCU soon. According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, Colman is in talks to star in Marvel Studios Disney+ series Secret Invasion.
The series will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and will reunite the duo of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos. Specific details about the plot are being kept under wraps but the series will adapt the famous Secret Invasion storyline from the comics where Skrulls (shapeshifters) have been infiltrating Earth for years.
According to THR, it is unclear who Colman will play. Although it is being said that One Night in Miami star Kingsley Ben-Adir is the likely villain of the Secret Invasion series. Could Colman be playing another villain?
Marvel is currently talking to directors for the series. Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot)will executive produce and write the series. Secret Invasion will film in the UK and Europe this fall.
Olivia Colman is nominated for an Oscar this year for her role in The Father. Colman won an Oscar for her work in 2018’s The Favourite. She is also known for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix series The Crown.
Secret Invasion will likely arrive on Disney+ in 2022.
