Welcome to MCU Rumors on Boardwalk Times. This is a column where we look at the newest rumors involving the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
J.K. Simmons Confirms More Spider-Man Appearances

Now, this rumor is essentially confirmed. J.K. Simmons said he will return for the third installment in the Tom Holland Spider-Man series and its sequels. It makes all the sense in the world when considering that incredible mid-credits scene from Spider-Man: Far From Home.
I think the real rumor that will come out of this news is how much of a role will J.K. Simmons’ J. Jonah Jameson play in these films? By the looks of that cameo it seems like a big role but who knows. Hopefully, we see his character shine in the MCU. Another thing to consider is the fact J. Jonah Jameson may be used in other Sony Marvel films like Venom: Let There Be Carnage and others. I hope we see multiple appearances of J. Jonah Jameson in the MCU.
Evan Peters Rumored to Join WandaVision in Mystery Role

WandaVision is easily one of the most anticipated MCU entries. Heck, it seems like it is one of the most anticipated Disney+ original series in general. Now news from insider Charles Murphy makes WandaVision’s anticipation meter skyrocket. Evan Peters, the actor who played Quicksilver in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise has signed on for a key and mystery role in the series.
In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Quicksilver was played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Quicksilver is Pietro Maximoff, the sister to Wanda Maximoff. It seems unlikely that Evan Peters would reprise his X-Men role for the series. Although when you think about it having a show that is centered on Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff be the show that introduces the X-Men and the mutants to the MCU may not be a bad call.
In Murphy’s report, it details how Peters is also good at playing a villain so there is a possibility he may just be the villain for the series. It still feels like you could get any other actor to be the villain. The connection feels too close.
I’m going to put this rumor in the wait and see column because Evan Peters as Quicksilver in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (which ties into WandaVision) isn’t outside the realm of possibility.
I feel like Peters’ role will be important either way.
WandaVision Will Reportedly Return to Filming in July

The world is getting back to work after being out of action due to COVID-19. That includes Marvel Studios productions. Hollywood now has social distancing filming guidelines which will make it easier for productions to resume. Shang-Chi is going to resume production in Australia and WandaVision will reportedly return to filming in July.
Tampa Bay Comic Convention spilled the news because Paul Bettany was scheduled to appear at the convention event but had to cancel due to more filming being done.
WandaVision is almost complete and a lot of post-production work has been done during this time. WandaVision is supposed to arrive in December on Disney+. Let’s see if the July filming return gets confirmed soon.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Could Get A Second Season But If It Does The Show Will Be Renamed

With the budgets for the Marvel Disney+ series and with how the MCU goes in a specific order. There wasn’t a guarantee that any of the Marvel Disney+ series would operate like traditional TV series where they go on for multiple seasons.
According to insider Charles Murphy, at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, “(Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson) are going to have gone through something traumatic and be different.” What could be more traumatic than the events of Infinity War/Endgame? I guess we will find out. Murphy also revealed on his podcast if the show did get a season two it would be under a new name due to character developments. If I had to guess season two would just be Captain America and the Winter Soldier. Maybe Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will stay in the Disney+ Marvel arena for a bit due to the crowded film slate but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them show back up in the films around Avengers 5 or even earlier.
We already know the series is going to deal with Sam Wilson’s struggle taking on the persona of Captain America and how the government would rather someone else carry the shield.
Also if the series gets a season two changing the name shows that the Disney+ series will be just like the MCU.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki May Also Resume Production in July

WandaVision is reportedly returning to production in July. Another rumor also states that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki will return to production in July.
Which is good considering that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier still has a lot to film and that show is supposed to hit Disney+ in the fall. Loki is still slated for early 2021.
The scoop comes from Liz Hill. Who has a solid track record when it comes to scoops.

This rumor is big for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which was supposed to be on Disney+ in August but Disney+ has been labeling it the fall. It will be fascinating to see once these shows get back to production how the Disney+ Marvel original series dates start to look. I have a feeling Marvel Studios may luck out on this one if all goes to plan in July.
Hercules Heading to the MCU?

Marvel insider Jeremy Conrad teased something about the character Hercules earlier today. The Cinema Spot then dropped an exclusive saying Hercules is slated to appear in an upcoming Marvel project. Obviously, we have to take this as a rumor until it is confirmed but still it is quite exciting.
One of the earliest Hercules to the MCU rumors was that the character was going to appear in Eternals but that’s looking like not the case. Even though the Eternals will make their big-screen MCU debut in 2021.
There isn’t a clue where Marvel Studios may introduce Hercules in the MCU. I feel if they want him in ASAP then Loki doesn’t seem too far-fetched. We could say Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but I have a feeling there will be a ton of characters and settings introduced in that film that having Hercules debut there would be tough.
Hercules comes from Olympus so as soon as the MCU sets that up the quicker we will see Hercules. Olympus being set up could happen in the Eternals or even Loki.
