The series cast, Kevin Feige, and Ryan Coogler surprised fans with exclusive footage.
Riri Williams, played by Dominique Thorne, was joined on the stage by her co-stars Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, and Lyric Ross.
Thorne told the crowd how wonderful it’s been to play Riri and teased heavy excitement for the series. She previously debuted and played a supporting role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022.
Ryan Coogler, the director of the first two Black Panther films, is executive producing the series. He commented on how much he adores Riri as a character and what it means to bring her story to fruition this time.
The exclusive trailer shown to D23 attendees featured Riri being kicked out of MIT for her wild inventions by Jim Rash, who previously cameoed in Captain America: Civil War. She’s then confronted by Ramos’ character, The Hood, who helps build her new suit. The brand-new armor is very similar to Iron Man’s Mark II from the original film that started it all. Riri is seen flying through the air and facing a mysterious villain group with some vague magical ties.
