Skeleton Crew is the latest entry in the Mandoverse, taking place around a similar period between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The series follows a group of children lost in an unfamiliar sect of space with no way back home.
It’s being helmed by the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts and writer Christopher Ford. Watts describes the series as a Goonies-style adventure set within the Star Wars universe.
The trailer showcases a group of kids consisting of Wim, Fern, Neel, and KB being whisked away from their quiet homeworld to the shady underbelly of a far-off galaxy. They’re accompanied by Jod Na Nawood played by Jude Law and a droid named SM-33 voiced by Nick Frost.

Familiar imagery of the New Republic is shown, with X-wings and holograms referencing Luke Skywalker. The show is set around the same time as The Mandalorian season 3, with a confirmed appearance of the pirate Vane from that season.
The most intriguing aspect of the show comes at the end of the trailer, with the reveal of Jod’s force abilities much to the children’s awe. This spells some interesting speculation on how he survived Order 66 and where he’s hidden all this time.
Skeleton Crew debuts on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere on December 3.
