In the months leading up to today, rumors started to swirl that a continuation of the X-Men: The Animated Series would happen.
Today those rumors were proven correct.
The animated series from Marvel Studios explores new stories in the iconic 90s timeline of the original series. Written by Executive Producer Beau DeMayo. Jake Castorena will be supervising director and Charley Feldman as supervising producer.
The original series is streaming now on Disney+, and the continuation which is titled X-Men ’97 will premiere on Disney+ in 2023.
X-Men ’97 will bring back the original cast of Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, and Alyson Court. As for new cast members, X-Men ’97 will also include the vocal talents of Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, AJ LoCascio.
Marvel Studios’ first X-Men project is a continuation of a beloved series. This bodes well for when Marvel Studios decides to adapt the X-Men into the live-action MCU.
