Kevin Feige Answers Questions About ‘WandaVision’, Disney+ Series Episode Count, and ‘Deadpool’

Kevin Feige answered various questions during a question-and-answer session for the TCA.

Today, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige answered questions from the set of Ms. Marvel for the TCA. Here are the highlights from the question and answer session.

On WandaVision getting a season two:

Feige once again said that he doesn’t see WandaVision getting a season two as Elizabeth Olsen’s next appearance will be in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which premieres in theaters on March 25, 2022. Feige did give a never say never answer though.

The other Marvel Disney+ series possibly getting multiple seasons:

“So it will always vary based on the story. Sometimes they’ll go into a Season 2, sometimes it will go into a feature and then back into a series. We’ve announced that Ms. Marvel, after her debut on Disney+, will be going into the second Captain Marvel film. But sometimes — it’s yet to be announced, but we are thinking of planning second seasons for some of the upcoming series,” said Kevin Feige. He also confirmed that there is some series they are already thinking about second seasons for.

The episode count of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier:

Feige once again confirmed that the upcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series will be six roughly one-hour episodes. Feige also confirmed that most Marvel Studios series will be six hours but the episode count and length will vary based on each series. The reason for this is most likely because the Marvel Studios series are pricier than a typical TV show.

On Deadpool remaining a Rated-R property:

Feige reiterated (for which it feels like for the millionth time) that Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds will remain Rated-R. He also noted that he doesn’t believe that the PG-13 rating holds Marvel Studios back. It seemed like Feige is open for the MCU to explore more Rated-R content but for now, it looks like Deadpool will be the exception to the rule.

On if the characters from the ABC and Netflix Marvel shows could show up in the MCU:

“I think there are legions of Agents of SHIELD fans and Daredevil fans and Jessica Jones fans and Luke Cage fans that disagree with you in terms of success or not,” Feige said while disagreeing with a statement from a reporter. “There is a very big fan base for those shows.”

Feige answered the question on whether the characters could show up, “I think we probably could. I think a lot of that stuff comes back to us. There are always rumors online about things reverting. Sometimes that’s true. Sometimes it’s not. And I’m not exactly sure of the exact contracts, but perhaps someday.”

On filming dates for the future Marvel Studios Disney+ series:

Feige was on set for Ms. Marvel while he was asking all these questions. He summed up the schedule for the Marvel Studios Disney series pretty easily.

“I am here on set now where we are finishing up Ms. Marvel. We’re also shooting Hawkeye currently. In a few weeks we start She-Hulk, and a week or so after that we start Moon Knight, in addition to our features. So it’s a very exciting time for the MCU, thanks to Disney+.” — Kevin Feige

It seems like these series are being filmed quick and that doesn’t even mention all the work being done on the Marvel Studios film side like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.

Feige on the days before his Marvel Studios did TV:

“Just like when Fox was doing X-Men movies or Sony was doing Spider-Man movies without us. That was just the rules under which Marvel was operating at the time,” said Feige.” It was much more of an opportunity and something that excited us at Marvel Studios when Bob Iger asked us to work on shows for Disney+ than it was a disappointment or something we thought that much about when Marvel Television was doing their series.”

The MCU’s future is bright and the next up on Disney+ is Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki (June 11), What If…?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel. In theaters, Marvel Studios calendar includes Black Widow (May 7), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (July 9), Eternals (Nov. 5), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (Dec. 17).
