Spoilers for The Mandalorian — Chapter 13: The Jedi.
Wing T. Chao retired from Walt Disney Imagineering in 2009. Ten years later, Chao was inducted as a Disney Legend (along with The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau). Chao joined Walt Disney Imagineering back in 1972. Chao’s roles included Vice Chairman of Development for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in the Asia Pacific (1984 to 1997) and Executive Vice President in charge of Master Planning, Architecture and Design at Walt Disney Imagineering (1997 to 2009). One of Chao’s most notable projects at Walt Disney Imagineering was leading a team to design Disney Cruise Lines four cruise ships; Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Dream.
During Wing T. Chao’s acceptance speech at the Disney Legends ceremony he did mention directly to CEO at the time Bob Iger that he wanted to be an actor. Well, I guess audience member Jon Favreau was listening…
