Disney has removed references to its Reflections: A Lakeside Lodge project from its D23 Expo 2019 posts. This means that the rumors of the project being shelved may be accurate.
Scott Gustin first noticed the changes and posted his findings to Twitter:
NEW: Disney has updated its 2019 D23 Expo announcements blog post and removed Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge. BEFORE and AFTER screenshots attached.
It's worth noting the original EPCOT plans that have since been modified are still in the post.https://t.co/uy25DWjo9M pic.twitter.com/juP9F7nw5g

The construction site of Reflections was where Disney’s River Country once was. Disney’s River Country had a troubling history, and it took years until Disney decided on what to do with that land. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic Reflections is looking unlikely to be built on that land. Maybe this is a weird way of the universe telling Disney to stop building projects on the former River Country site. It’s just not meant to be.
Construction came to a halt on Reflections once Disney went into money-saving mode due to the pandemic. It has been assumed that Disney has defunded this project and a couple of projects at EPCOT due to the current situation in our world.
Even though Disney hasn’t officially announced the cancellation of Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge it’s looking pretty obvious that the project is either canceled or won’t be the same if it gets resurrected. Some projects just never get off the ground, and that’s the sad reality.
