Disney Rebrands Its TV Studios, Fox is Out, Touchstone is Back

Disney Television Studios rebrands its three studios.

After Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, the company has been rebranding all of its Fox assets. Disney has scrubbed Fox away from its film studios (20th Century Fox is now 20th Century Studios, Fox Searchlight is simply now Searchlight Pictures, Fox 2000 was closed), and now the television studios have received the same treatment.

The move was done to further separate Disney from the FOX Corporation which they acquired these assets from. The move will solve the confusion people have with Disney and Fox.

Disney dropped the Fox (and Century) from 20th Century Fox Television, and now it will be called 20th Television.

Disney changed Fox 21 television to Touchstone Television. Touchstone is a Disney owned legacy brand that has been in retirement since 2007 but now it’s back. Touchstone Television existed once before but was rebranded to ABC Studios.

Plus ABC Studios and ABC Signature will now be known collectively as ABC Signature.

Yet all the rebranding will keep the familiar. 20th Television is still basically 20th Century Fox television and Touchstone Pictures logo is identical to Fox 21’s branding. Don’t worry 20th Television will have the classic fanfare that Fox fans have enjoyed for years.

Disney’s Television Studios president Craig Hunegs spoke on the rebranding:

“Our new studio names and logos mark a new day for ABC Signature, 20th Television, and Touchstone Television while honoring their rich histories and the creative power of The Walt Disney Company, Dana [Walden] and I could not be more pleased with the first year of our three studios together as part of Disney Television Studios and we believe that with our powerhouse talent roster and exceptional studio teams, the best is yet to come.”

The trio of studios is working on a variety of projects for ABC, National Geographic, Hulu, FOX, Disney+, and Netflix.
