The popular X-Men: The Animated Series may end up getting a revival at Disney+. After Disney’s purchase of 21st Century Fox, it was assumed more X-Men content would be on the way. One of the biggest rumors was that the creators behind the original animated series were pitching ideas to Disney. Now that has been confirmed.
During a Wizard World podcast, X-Men: The Animated Series producer Larry Huston confirmed the talks:
“We’ve had talks, but that’s about it. We’ve made conversation and it’s up to them to make the decision, but we’ve let them know that we’re all available for whatever they want to do in the future.”
Disney+ has already added the 90s X-Men as profile icons. It also looks like the series is popular among viewers on Disney+. So, a reboot is definitely not out of the realm of possibility. The talks have happened and now the ball is in Disney’s court, and for a service that craves original content, it’s hard to say no to this in my honest opinion.
Plus it would be smart for Marvel to continue to expand into non-MCU related content. If everything is a part of the MCU, fans may eventually turn on the concept. That’s why an X-Men: The Animated Series reboot makes too much sense for Disney+.
X-Men: The Animated Series ran from 1992 to 1997. The series lasted five seasons. The series featured X-Men characters such as Professor X, Magneto, Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, and Jubilee.
