‘Win or Lose’: Pixar’s First Original Disney+ Looks To Be A Home Run

Pixar’s first foray into original TV looks to be a home run.

The first trailer for Pixar’s Win or Lose was released over D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The first two episodes were also shown at a watch party over the weekend and the series received raving reviews from fans in attendance at the watch party.

Pixar’s first-ever original series follows the intertwined stories of eight different characters as they each prepare for their big championship softball game. The series reveals what it actually feels like to be in the shoes of each character — the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, and even lovesick empire — with incredibly funny, very emotional, and uniquely animated perspectives.

The inspiration for the series came about through Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates’ experiences while working on Toy Story 4. Hobson and Yates would have very different reactions to the exact same events. Hence why they are making a series about a team reacting to the same events all in their own way.

The first trailer features a variety of unique animation styles. I believe the animation styles will change depending on the characters. The story lends itself to animation well and may be relatable for anyone who’s played sports. Just from everything I’ve seen so far this feels like the type of show that the entire family can enjoy over the holidays.

The series includes the voices of Will Forte, Rosa Salazar, Milan Ray, and others.

I’m excited at the chance to watch this series. Everything I’ve seen so far seems so fresh and exciting. This is a project that I have been following since it was first announced during Disney’s Investor Day back in 2020. I’m so excited that it’s almost here.

Win or Lose is directed, written, and executive-produced by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates. David Lally is the producer. Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, and Lindsey Collins are also executive producers on the project.

Win or Lose will have a two-episode premiere on December 6 on Disney+. It will have eight episodes overall.
