Back in April 2024, Mickey Views broke the news that Disney was planning an IP-themed carousel for Tropical Americas.
Over D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the carousel was officially confirmed. The carousel will be a part of the village of Pueblo Esperanza. The carousel has its own story. In Pueblo Esperanza, a woodcarver has taken it upon himself to make wood carvings of some of our favorite Disney characters to create a working carousel. Truthfully, I like the logic behind this, and seems like an easy way to incorporate more characters into the land.
Kevin from Up will be featured on the carousel. I’ve previously written Up would have more representation in Tropical Americas than what has been reported. Animals from Finding Nemo, Moana, and The Lion King will be featured in this carousel as well. At this time it’s unclear if Coco will be represented as previously rumored.

Imagineers went on numerous research trips during the development of Tropical Americas including Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, The land will feature a large fountain and will have special lighting effects as well.

Tropical Americas opens in 2027.
