Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts Will Remain Closed Until Further Notice

Both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort will be closed until further notice.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected The Walt Disney Company and the world significantly. It looks like the parks in the United States will be closed even longer than originally expected. There is now no reopening date scheduled, as the parks and resorts are closed until further notice.

Disney released a statement earlier today on the matter:

An Empty Magic Kingdom (Zach Perilstein | Boardwalk Times)

Cast members will be paid through April 18. Disney will most likely provide another update before then for both their cast members and the process of reopening the parks.

Every single Disney resort on the planet is currently closed. Shanghai Disney Resort was the first Disney property to close but it is now slowly reopening parts of the resort again. Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris Resort, and Tokyo Disney Resort remain closed.

I don’t say this lightly but we are living through history right now. It also doesn’t feel appropriate to guess when Walt Disney World and the rest of the resorts will reopen. We will just have to wait and see.
