Universal Files Patents for Interactive Tower Ride and Rotating Lifts with Stacked Rooms

These look like fun attractions for down the line.

Coming just days after Universal’s Epic Universe announcement it’s been revealed the company has filed two new patents. One is a tower with interactive features and the other is a system with rooms stacked with a rotating lift system.

Interactive tower ride

The ride is interactive with passengers having control of some of the features. The interactive tower ride features four towers with ride vehicles for one or more passengers. The patent mentions creating an “immersive environment” in which passengers can interact with. The patent also mentions the possible use and inclusion of augmented reality, virtual reality, projection, and special effects.

Some of the possible interactive elements use gaming components. The ride experience could be impacted by scores. This will be from passengers using the gaming components. It’s also possible this attraction could utilize levels but it would be on a vastly different scale than Men in Black and Toy Story Mania interactive gaming attractions. The gaming component affecting the attraction experience is an awesome concept.

Also, within the patent, it shows that the ride vehicle could be affected by passengers of another ride vehicle resulting in the vehicle to tilt.

Rotating lift and stacked rooms

The second patent from Universal shows “a plurality of rooms stacked atop one another.” The ride vehicles are able to rotate and twist, and the vehicle is able to climb up and descend down.

So, basically its a trippy and more advanced version of Tower of Terror. The patent includes multiple different combinations creating a number of different potential experiences on the ride.

The two latest patents from Universal show some creative attraction possibilities. Also, if we want to be funny about it. I would say that these patents have the epic potential within Universal’s growing universe.
