The runDisney 2024–2025 calendar has been posted and there is a big surprise in the schedule!
The runDisney season usually begins with the Wine and Dine Half Marathon event in late-October/early-November, but Disney has surprised us this year by, instead, opening the season with a new race at Disneyland: the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend in September! (I know, Halloween is not in September, but who doesn’t want a little extra spooky season in their lives?)
This is not only great because it gives Disneyland a second race next season, but also it benefits runners this season seeking the elusive “Coast to Coast” medal. Prior to this announcement, the only way to achieve the medal was to race a half or full marathon at Walt Disney World in January and then fly out to the Anaheim park to run another half a few days later.
It was quite a stretch.
Now those of us participating in WDW’s Marathon Weekend can wait until next September to race on the other coast and get the coveted medal!
