The highly-anticipated season two of The Mandalorian will premiere in October. It’s already been announced that pre-production is already starting for Season 3 of the series.
Creator Jon Favreau has been writing the third season for a while now according to sources. Also, Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director Doug Chiang has been leading the charge in developing new concept art for the third installment.
Due to the massive scale of the series. Production has to start super early because all the departments need time to be able to create the Star Wars magic we see on The Mandalorian.
The Mandalorian is lucky because the show finished production on Season 2 in early March. Just before the coronavirus pandemic sent the entertainment industry spinning.
The Mandalorian was the first Star Wars series to launch on Disney+. Now Disney has two more Star Wars series in pre-production: the untitled Cassian Andor series and an Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
The Mandalorian Season 2 will be directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, and Carl Weathers. The cast for season two currently includes Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, and Michael Biehn. Rumors also have been floating that Rosario Dawson will play Ahsoka Tano in Season 2.
