A great conjunction: The Galactic Starcruiser closed, Evermore closed, Pete went to Galaxy’s Edge for the first time. This all led to an episode of The Lowdown on the Plus-Up that is a little more rumination and a little less “biff pow!” It’s a little more philosophical and a little less “getting off of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with your pants wet.”
We discuss interactivity in themed environments — why it works and why it doesn’t. We talk about the history of congregating in groups and pretending to be people other than ourselves and about how Knott’s Berry Farm and a few northern California innovators might be accomplishing the things that Disney is still striving for.
This is not your usual Lowdown. We hope you like it.
