It’s time to give a preview of Disney+ in 2024. The slate for this year is pretty light due to the dueling Hollywood strikes of 2023. Not to mention Disney is cutting back on content spending in general. However, maybe we will see the list of originals grow throughout the year.

Now it’s time to preview everything coming to Disney+ in 2024.

At the time of this release, Echo will have already aired.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch

The animated series returns for a third and final season. The series follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.

But when a magical spirit called Billy Blind appears, Nell realizes her destiny is bigger than she ever imagined.

Renegade Nell stars Louisa Harland and Nick Mohammed.

The Acolyte

The Acolyte is set at the end of the High Republic era in a world of “shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers”, approximately 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

The Acolyte was created by Leslye Headland. The cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Margarita Levieva, Joonas Suotamo, and Amy Tsang.

The Acolyte will debut this year on Disney+.

Agatha will feature a lot of returning Westview players. It’s turning out to be a WandaVision sequel of sorts. The dark comedy series is being created by WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer.

Kathryn Hahn stars as Agatha Harkness. The cast includes WandaVision returnees such as Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis/”Ms.Hart”, Emma Caulfield Ford as Sarah Proctor/“Dottie Jones”, David Payton as John Collins / “Herb”, David Lengel as Harold Proctor / “Phil Jones”, Asif Ali as Abilash Tandon / “Norm”, and Kate Forbes as Evanora Harkness.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is also bringing in new players such as Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Sasheer Zamata, Patti LuPone, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Okwui Okpokwasili.

Boardwalk Times Multiverse of Marvel will be covering Agatha.

X-Men ‘97

Marvel Studios is continuing the X-Men: The Animated Series with X-Men ’97. The new series will premiere on Disney+, and it has already been greenlit for a second season as well.

Eyes of Wakanda

Ryan Coogler, the director of the first two Black Panther films, will have a hand in this animated project. The logline reads, “Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.”

Eyes of Wakanda premieres this year.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Previously titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year is now titled Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Most are describing this series as a large scale What If…? type series involving the MCU version of Spider-Man. However it seems like there may have been some creative changes, hence the name change.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man premieres this year.

Win or Lose

Pixar’s first-ever long-form series will finally debut in 2024. Win or Lose will follow the Pickles, a co-ed middle school softball team, in the week leading up to their championship game. Each episode takes place that same week, highlighting the perspective of a different main character — players, their parents, the umpire — each reflected in a unique visual style. Will Forte is part of the cast. Win or Lose was directed by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates.

Win or Lose will premiere in 2024.

Duffy and Friends

A stop-motion animated series starring Duffy the Disney Bear and his friends. It will be a six-episode series. Duffy the Disney Bear is an original character to the Disney Parks and is extremely popular at Disney’s three Asian resorts (Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo).

Could the Disney+ series be the catalyst to bring Duffy back to EPCOT?

Iwájú

Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pan-African comic book entertainment company Kugali team up for this long-form animated series.

The coming-of-age story introduces Tola, a young heiress from the wealthy island, and her best friend Kole, a self-taught tech expert and loving son from the mainland.

Iwájú will arrive in 2024.

Aladdin: The Broadway Musical

To capitalize on the success of Hamilton on Disney+, expect the streamer to do more musical events like Elton John Live and Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl. Aladdin: The Broadway Musical was supposed to premiere on Disney+ in 2022 but now it seems that the recorded musical special will air sometime in 2024.

Descendants: Rise of Red

The film is a continuation of the popular Disney Channel franchise Descendants. Although Descendants: Rise of Red will be the first Descendants film to not premiere on Disney Channel as it will be going to Disney+. Yet that could always change as Disney seems more focused on sharing content across linear and streaming now.

Descendants: Rise of Red stars Kylie Cantrall, Malia Baker, China Anne McClain, Dara Renee, Rita Ora, Brandy Norwood, Paolo Montalban, and Melanie Paxson.

Young Woman and the Sea

Young Woman and the Sea tells the story of Gertrude Ederle, an American swimming champion, who first won a gold medal at the 1924 Olympic Games. In 1926, Ederle became the first woman to swim 21 miles across the English Channel. Daisey Ridley stars at Gertrude Ederle.

The film is directed by Joachim Rønning, and written by Jeff Nathanson.

Lilo & Stitch

The live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch is skipping theaters and going straight to Disney+.

The film is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp.

The film stars Chris Sanders, Maia Kealoha, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Sydney Agudong, Kaipo Dudoit, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, and Jason Scott Lee.

This list will likely change and evolve over the year.

Some projects may get moved into 2025 or beyond. Yet, this should be a good outline of what to expect this year from Disney+. Obviously, more programming and originals will be announced as the year goes on.
