The next generation of Disney audio-animatronics will be featured in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. What Star Wars characters will be featured in this immersive land. Walt Disney Imagineering is showcasing Hondo Ohnaka, who is a space pirate in Star Wars canon. He will be your guide on the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run attraction.
The audio-animatronics in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be based on the A-1000 series. Disney previously used the A-100 series during the 80s. Examples of the new animatronics include Rocket Racoon from Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout and The Shaman from the Na’Vi River Journey.
Hondo Ohnaka will be one of the major animatronics in Galaxy’s Edge. He will be able to perform over 50 functions. Making him the most complex animatronic ever built. (Just wait until we see Kylo Ren…).
Captain Rex will be another audio-animatronic in Batuu. According to Lucasfilm, there is a whole backstory to how Captain Rex landed on Batuu and why he is a DJ at the cantina. You will be able to see Captain Rex at Oga’s Cantina.
Dok-Ondar will also be in the land as an audio-animatronic. He is a Jedi and Sith artifact collector. The audio-animatronic will interact with guests and workers. Adding layers to the immersive goals of Galaxy’s Edge.
Nien Numb, a fan-favorite is getting an audio-animatronic. He will be piloting the transport ship in the Rise of the Resistance attraction.
We can expect Disney will be revealing more audio-animatronics soon. Including some droids and the highly-anticipated Kylo Ren audio-animatronic that will appear in the Rise of the Resistance attraction.
