Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in China, Shanghai Disney Resort has been closed for 81 days. On March 9, Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, Disneytown, and Wishing Star Park resumed limited operations as the resort continues to open up in phases.
Shanghai Disney Resort is now introducing more health protocols to keep guests safe, healthy, and prevent the further spread of the virus.
Shanghai Disneyland recently updated their website. In their statement, they revealed the resort will now use the Health QR Code App and only guests with a green Shanghai QR code will be allowed to enter the resort.
Here is the statement from Shanghai Disney Resort:
Shanghai Disneyland remains closed as we continue to closely monitor health and safety conditions and follow the direction of government regulators. However, as the first step of a phased reopening, Shanghai Disney Resort will partially resume operations on March 9, 2020 with a limited number of shopping, dining, and recreational experiences available in Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel. Each of these resort locations will operate under limited capacity and reduced hours of operation. The Disney Car and Coach Park and the Disneytown Parking Lot will also reopen.
The resort will provide an extensive range of measures, designed to ensure a safe and healthy experience for all guests, Cast Members and Disneytown tenant employees, including strict and comprehensive approaches on sanitization, disinfection and cleanliness. In accordance with relevant regulations, every guest entering Shanghai Disney Resort will be required to undergo temperature screening procedures and present their Shanghai QR Code. Only guests with a green Shanghai QR Code will be allowed to enter the resort. Guests must wear a mask during their entire visit (except when dining), and will also be reminded to maintain respectful social distances at all times while in stores, queues and restaurants.
In the bold are some of the new regulations for Shanghai Disney Resort. Including the expanded use of the Shanghai QR Code App. Only guests with a green QR code will be allowed to enter. The Health QR Code App is a color-coded tracking system that’s been used in China to track people’s health. Green means good, orange and red mean potentially exposed to the virus or tested positive for COVID-19.
Guests have to present their QR code before entering the resort now not just the dining venues. Along with guests wearing masks and proper social distancing for their entire visit. It’s important to note that Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger is looking to China when it comes time to implement strategies for the parks in the United States.
