Even though this year hasn’t gone to plan for the MCU. It seems like Disney and Marvel Studios keep pushing new projects down the pipeline. The latest is a mysterious Disney+ series that has Samuel L. Jackson attached to star as his iconic role of Nick Fury. Currently, it is unclear if the series will be focused on Nick Fury or if the series will perhaps be more about S.W.O.R.D. or even a singular event like Secret Invasion.
The new Marvel series will be coming from Mr. Robot writer Kyle Bradstreet. Bradstreet is attached to write and executive produce the series. The series will tie in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now that Marvel Studios has gotten involved on the streaming side of things.
Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury has been a cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the very beginning in Iron Man. The last three MCU films had a clear Nick Fury focus. As Captain Marvel provided some more about Nick Fury’s origins, Avengers: Endgame showed Nick Fury on Earth at Tony Stark’s funeral surrounded by a ton of heroes (maybe something went down at that future and Fury has a plan for the next Avengers?), and Spider-Man: Far From Home featured Nick Fury but as the Skrull, Talos before revealing in a mind-blowing post-credit scene that Nick Fury is in space.
So, the series has some angles it can take. Here are some of them:
The Nick Fury series shows how times are changing in Hollywood. If the series goes forward it would be the first television role of Samuel L. Jackson’s illustrious career.
Let’s hope we get more details on this epic series soon. I think I speak for the majority of Boardwalk Times audience but I can’t wait for the MCU to get back into our lives and on schedule.
