According to a rumor from MCU Cosmic, it looks like Captain Marvel 2 which is slated to come out in July 2022 will play a massive role in setting up the next generation of Avengers films.
Captain Marvel 2’s plot is still unknown at the time but at first many fans speculated that it would have something to do with “Secret Invasion.” It now seems that “Secret Invasion” will be used in a Disney+ series down the road. Also, Marvel Studios is working on a Young Avengers project. With hints at Young Avengers characters in Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Hawkeye, and Ant-Man 3.
Yet, Marvel Studios isn’t just moving along with Young Avengers as its only Avengers project. It seems like according to recent chatter and rumors that Marvel Studios is planning to set the stage during Captain Marvel 2 for the New Avengers. So, this obviously means Captain Marvel will be a part of the New Avengers.
Also, it means that Captain Marvel 2 has a good shot at being like Captain America: Civil War as that film helped set the stage for Avengers: Infinity War.
Also according to MCU Cosmic, it seems that Spider-Man will indeed be in the New Avengers film if all goes according to plan. I mean Carol Danvers and Peter Parker isn’t a bad start for the next generation of Avengers films. If I had to make more guesses I think we could see Sam Wilson as Captain America and Doctor Strange as Avengers as well. I also wouldn’t rule out Black Panther.
The future of the MCU looks like it will be through teams with the arrival of the Young Avengers, New Avengers, The Thunderbolts, and of course the Fantastic Four. We could potentially see a new version of the Guardians of the Galaxy and the X-Men finally debut in the MCU too.
