PCL Construction Services Inc. of Orlando and Heard Construction of Merritt Island have won the bid to oversee construction for Disney’s new Port Canaveral terminal project. The new project will lead to expansion on the Disney Cruise Lines presence on the space coast.
As part of a 20-year deal with the port that was signed in May, Disney will increase the number of cruises it guarantees will sail from Port Canaveral. Its current guarantee is 150 cruises a year. That total will increase to 180 a year in 2023, then to 216 a year in 2024 and beyond.
This comes at a time where Disney plans to add three ships to its lineup in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Currently, the Disney Dream and Fantasy, Disney’s largest cruise ships, are based out of Port Canaveral. Under the deal with the port, one of the new ships will be based out of Port Canaveral.
The upgrades to the two ports at Port Canaveral cost an estimated $46 million. This is a rendering of the new Port Canaveral terminal.

There will be many opportunities to take a cruise out of Port Canaveral. Especially with the addition of another ship to the terminal. The terminal project is scheduled to be completed during the second quarter of 2021.
