Hey Everyone!
Today we mourn one of the most important attractions in Walt Disney World history, The Great Movie Ride. This attraction featured a plethora of attractions, themed areas, emotions, happiness, and state-of-the-art audio-animatronics that to this day still remain as some of the most impressive and diverse systems of animatronics.
Here, we’ve compiled some of the best pictures that contributors to the Boardwalk Times have taken throughout our trips to the movies. We can relive these films for decades through these pictures because of the immense detail and design put into each set piece.
Join us on this trip through the movies, one last time.
Enjoy!

Marquee

Footlight Parade — Singin’ in the Rain — Mary Poppins

Gangster Alley
“ …it’s so exquisitely detailed with some amazing lighting and animatronics. Also can’t forget Mugsy! “Watch dis — no mo’ red light!” —

Western Films

Alien
“ …you feel like you went into a totally different ride.” —
“It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen, if only because it feels so real. Walking through feels cold, almost like you’re there. Each turn and jet of air puts you on your toes up until you come face to face with the Xenomorph. It transforms one of my favorite movies, and one of the greatest horror movies, into a real experience.” —

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Tarzan: The Ape Man

Casablanca

The Wizard of Oz

Closing Theater
