Announced today by the Disney Company, we finally have opening dates set for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland Resort as well as Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. The date for Disneyland is going to be May 31 while guest visiting Walt Disney World will have to wait until August 29, earlier than the original expected date of “late fall.”
The park will be opening in two phases, the first opening with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run along with shopping the galactic merchandise and trying food and drinks from out of this world.
Phase 2 will be for the opening of the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction. It is said to be an attraction that will completely immerse guests into the ride and blur lines between reality and fantasy.

Guest visiting Disneyland will be required to make a reservation for any dates between May 31st and June 23rd. This reservation will come at no-cost, but of course, valid park admission will be required and reservations are limited. Guest staying at any three Disneyland Resort Hotels during these dates will also receive a reservation to visit the new land with valid park admission. While guest visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios will not be required to make a reservation, park capacity will be limited. It will be open during Extra Magic Hours for Walt Disney World resort guests.
More details on reservations as well as information about the phase openings will be available at a later date.
We here at Boardwalk Times are estimating record-breaking times for full capacity to be reached, as well as wait times that will bring rides like Avatar Flight of Passage to shame.
