New Details on ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Attraction at Tokyo Disneyland

It’s the largest redevelopment in the history of the Tokyo Disneyland Resort. This Beauty and the Beast attraction is one of many dark rides.

Here is a video that showcases Imagineers hard at work on the first ever Beauty and the Beast ride-through attraction. The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast attraction shows off some amazing audio-animatronics.

The centerpiece of the new Beauty and the Beast area of Fantasyland will be Belle’s castle which will house the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast attraction. It will be 98 feet above the surrounding area. (Take that, Be Our Guest restaurant).

In the new attraction, guests will board giant teacups that will dance to the rhythm of the film’s music.

The teacup has two rows. Four seats in the front row, and six seats in the back row. The vehicles utilize a trackless system. The vehicle will dance, and interact with scenes throughout the ride.

The audio-animatronics are impressive and they don’t use the projection mapping that are on the audio-animatronics on Frozen Ever After. The new attraction will be eight minutes long and it will be a classic dark ride to Beauty and the Beast.

Overall, the redevelopment of the Tokyo Disney Resort will take up 10% of the land. The redevelopment is costing $665 million to do. The large-scale expansion will be finished by Spring 2020. Along with this Beauty and the Beast themed area of Fantasyland. There will be the eighth port to Tokyo DisneySea, which will celebrate the stories of Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan. The expansion is also bringing a new Fantasyland Theatre, a new Minnie Mouse meet and greet, and a brand new Big Hero 6 attraction.

It was rumored a while back that the Oriental Land Company was looking at building a third park called Tokyo DisneySky. Right now it seems they are just happy with this mega expansion/redevelopment.

P.S. Can we please sacrifice Enchanted Tales of Belle and some other surrounding land to bring this attraction to Walt Disney World?
