New Concept Art for the Disney Skyliner at Walt Disney World

Rumor of a new transportation system was finally confirmed this year at Disney’s D23 Expo.

As part of the Disney Parks Blog’s “12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas”a news piece that reveals remarkable news coming to Disney Parks. We received concept art on the new Skyliner system that is coming to Walt Disney World. The concept art you see above is from the Epcot World Showcase station. That Skyliner station is inspired by the European pavilions that surround it.

The Disney Skyliner is a new transportation system at Walt Disney World that will take guests from Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios to select Disney Resorts. The exterior will features notable Disney characters. The original exterior concept art featured Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse (Normal), Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse (New style from the Mickey Mouse shorts), Donald Duck and Goofy (Normal), and The Hitchhiking Ghosts from The Haunted Mansion. The new version of the exterior concept art which you can view below features; Mickey and Minnie (New style), Goofy (New style), Belle and the Beast, and once again the Hitchhiking Ghosts from The Haunted Mansion.

By just looking at the previous concept art you can count on that more exteriors will be used for the Skyliner. I mean Disney will advertise on this Skyliner similar to the monorails and buses. Plus if you look closely at one of the Skyliner cabins in the concept art (Hollywood Studios station) there is a Captain America exterior.

The gondola will offer extraordinary views of Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort (which is receiving a huge renovation) will be the focus of the Disney Skyliner. Their Skyliner station is inspired by the open air markets of the Caribbean. The station sticks to the resort’s color themes and architecture.

The Disney Skyliner station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (or whatever it will be named by then) fits in with the main entrance and bus stops. Instead of Disney generically placing clones of stations at each of destination. Each Skyliner station will have its own experience. This is the Disney difference at its finest. Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will share a Skyliner that will be designed to fit both resorts.

Disney Skyliner does not have a opening date yet.
