Mickey Mouse will finally have his own attraction. “But at what cost?” to quote Avengers: Infinity War. The cost of the classic The Great Movie Ride. This news article won’t get into that saga. For now, I’ll just cover the intriguing developments for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
This is Mickey and Minnie’s first ride-through attraction. Disney Parks Chairman Bob Chapek announced that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is expected to arrive in fall 2019. “The breakthrough technology will transform a two-dimensional cartoon into an amazing real-world experience.” Is how it was described in a D23 post. That technology is currently known as 2 and 1⁄2 D. Basically, 3D without glasses. The attraction will also feature a brand-new story and song. The ride will also feature the most hidden Mickeys ever.
This attraction is also rumored to be coming to Disneyland. Supposedly, replacing the Gag Factory in Toontown. We are still waiting on Disney for confirmation. It is likely that rumor will be confirmed tomorrow at Destination D during the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway panel.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is slated to open fall of 2019.
