Marvel Studios Shakes Up Their Schedule Once Again: ‘Spider-Man 3’ Heads to Fall 2021

Three Marvel Studios films have new release dates.

Marvel Studios has been greatly affected by current circumstances. Leading to their entire MCU film schedule to get delayed. Now we have an even more recent update on the MCU slate.

Spider-Man 3 will be released on November 5, 2021, instead of July 16, 2021. This move puts Tom Holland’s Spider-Man series in a new spot of November. The November 5, 2021 date was intended for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That film recently got a new director in Sam Raimi, and it hasn’t made as much progress in pre-production as other Marvel films. Also, would not be surprised if Marvel is reworking the story because the film is said to play a big role in the future of the MCU.

So, now Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to arrive on March 25, 2022. So, an even longer wait. Plus Thor Love and Thunder leapfrogged Doctor Strange as the film will now release February 11, 2022. So, 2022 will kick off with a bang with Thor and Doctor Strange. Good luck to Disney and its other non-Marvel studios for finding other dates to put on their 2022 films because currently, it looks like pure Marvel domination.

It also seemed Disney/Marvel Studios worked closely with Sony Pictures on this recent reshuffling. Originally, an MCU movie was going to occupy the October 7, 2022 date which is now held by Sony Animation’s Spider-Verse 2.

An idea I could still see happening is Spider-Man 3 ends up releasing on July 8, 2022, this would allow it to keep its July traditional spot even if it is a long wait. Then this would lead to Captain Marvel 2 moving to October 7, 2022. This would rely on if Sony decides to move Spider-Verse 2 out of 2022. I mean animated films do take time.

According to Marvel, this is the current MCU schedule for years to come. Obviously things can change.

2021

2022

It seems Marvel is keeping that October 7, 2022 date warm. Maybe Sony is just using that date as a placeholder anyways.

If I had to speculate on Marvel’s slate in 2023 I feel it will look something like this. Ant-Man 3 on February 17, 2023, Disney then has a date for an UNTITLED MARVEL FILM (20th Century) on May 5 which I’m going with it will be Deadpool 3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 on July 28.

Then for the November 3, 2023 date I will go with three guesses of it either being the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts or the date doesn’t get used. Fantastic Four anyways feels destined to be in 2024. Plus I like the idea of Marvel’s 2023 slate being all third installments in popular franchises.

Anyways it will be fun to get back to the theaters and watch MCU action very soon.
