Marvel Studios made numerous announcements during its Hall H presentation. Kevin Feige spent some time on Thunderbolts* which will premiere next May.
Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier and stars Geraldine Viswanathan, Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen, Olga Kurylenko, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Florence Pugh, and Sebastian Stan were all present for the Hall H presentation.
Thunderbolts* will conclude Phase 5 of the MCU. Hall H attendees got to see the first teaser for the film. Yelena has dinner with Alexi (Red Guardian) and she discusses how she’s felt unfulfilled as a contract killer, then there is a scene where Yelena believes the Thunderbolts have been set up. It’s clear someone wants the team taken out.
The action has been described as darker and there are scenes with Val in Avengers Tower. Yelena also jumps off a skyscraper. I’m sure we will get a clearer understanding of this footage by D23 or later in the year as marketing ramps up.
The Thunderbolts* script comes from Beef’s Lee Sung Jin and The Bear’s Joanna Calo.
One of the bigger mysteries surrounding Thunderbolts* is the asterisk in the title and how the events of Captain America: Brave New World with President Thunderbolt Ross may factor into things.
Longtime Marvel star Sebastian Stan also shouted out Florence Pugh’s performance as Yelena as the standout of the film.
