Murray Gold, who began his tenure as the primary composer for Doctor Who in 2005 when the show was rebooted, has returned to the fold after a several-year break. Gold will pick up the baton again when David Tennant returns in November as the Fourteenth Doctor and will continue through Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor’s first season, both premiering on Disney+.
Except for the four-year run of Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor in which composer Segun Akinola ran the musical part of the hit BBC series, Murray Gold has been the sole composer to score the show since its modern revival.
