The layout for a multi-launch roller coaster at Shanghai Disneyland has been officially revealed.

The permits were filed by Shanghai Disneyland to the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources. Back in March, Shanghai Disneyland announced work would begin on a project adjacent to their recently-opened Zootopia land. As seen in the permits and layouts above, the attraction will be a multi-launch roller coaster. The attraction will also go backwards as well. At the time of this writing, it is unknown which roller coaster manufacturer that Disney will use for this attraction.

The most consistent rumors link this roller coaster to Spider-Man. Which would make sense as I’m sure Shanghai Disneyland wouldn’t mind building an Avengers Campus within their park. Spider-Man is a popular character and he’s been used a lot within the Marvel Theme Park Universe. I also know many Disney Parks fans would be fascinated to see how the Imagineers do a roller coaster themed to everyone’s favorite web-slinger. Although I’m still waiting for Imagineering to finally give us that web-slinging through a city attraction.

The other rumor which is a little less prominent but also makes sense on paper is Big Hero 6. The film did big numbers in China and Baymax has proven to be a cornerstone of Disney Consumer Products. I wouldn’t be shocked if Shanghai decided to pick Baymax over Peter Parker.

However, with that being said, there is always a possibility that Shanghai Disneyland will decide something completely different. Still, the option to have either a Spider-Man coaster or a Big Hero 6 coaster may be too tempting to pass up.

Shanghai Disneyland could give an update on this coaster in early May.
