Jeremy Renner’s newest Disney+ series showcases Renner’s lifelong passion for construction and his passion for giving back to communities. Rennervations is a renovation show with a unique twist, where Renner takes decommissioned vehicles and reimagines them to serve a community. For example, taking a tour bus and making a mobile music bus for BASE Chicago (an organization that offers different after-school programs to help keep inner-city youths off the streets).

Renner is joined by his best friend and business partner, Rory Millikin, and an all-star build crew as they repurpose and reimagine decommissioned vehicles for a new purpose for communities across the globe. The intro to each episode includes Millikin and Renner explaining the concept, and it also features a hilarious moment from Renner saying a certain line that you wouldn’t expect to hear on Disney+ (you’ll just have to watch the moment for yourself).

The four-episode series features some of Renner’s famous friends including Vanessa Hudgens (Tick, Tick… Boom!, High School Musical), Anil Kapoor (Mission Impossible, Slumdog Millionaire), Sebastián Yatra (Encanto), and Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Captain America: New World Order).

I know most Marvel fans will likely check out the Anthony Mackie episode of Rennervations. I mean come on it’s Hawkeye and Captain America doing great things for a community. That episode features some great banter and also gives nods towards the famous Avengers Chat. (Something that Renner’s best friend Rory — and the rest of the world — wants to know who’s in it).

Episodes of the series include building a mobile music bus for the community of Chicago, building a mobile water treatment center in India, building a mobile dance studio in Mexico, and building a mobile recreation center in Reno, Nevada. All of the repurposed vehicles go on to help organizations like BASE Chicago (an organization that offers different after-school programs to help keep inner-city youths off the streets), Uva Jagriti Sansthan (a non-profit organization trying to deliver clean, drinkable water to communities across India), Casa Hogar (a nonprofit organization offering full-time care and parenting to vulnerable kids unable to live with their families), and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada (a charity based in Reno, NV, that creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships between adult volunteers and local kids).
The show focuses on giving back and offers creative solutions to help these different organizations. It’s fascinating to watch Jeremy Renner and his team take a delivery truck and turn it into a mobile water treatment center, or make a city bus into a dance studio, or a shuttle bus into a rec center. If you’re into reimagining spaces and construction creativity this show is for you. If you’re a fan of the fare that’s on HGTV, Rennervations will be right up your alley.

The show focuses on the renovations and reimagining of the decommissioned vehicles but Renner does spend a good portion with the communities and organizations he’s helping. The series is a unique concept and overall a heartwarming show. It fits Disney’s mission and core values and it’s the type of show you’d expect from Disney+.
Rennervations is a distinctly different and inspiring renovation show which makes actionability and the thoughtfulness of others look super cool.
Rennervations is four-episode series and all episodes will be streaming on April 12 on Disney+.
