IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth to End in 2019

The longtime fireworks spectacular which captivated guests around the World Showcase lagoon is coming to an end.

The Walt Disney Company announced yesterday that the longtime Epcot firework spectacular IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth would come to an end. This is a part of the multi-year transformation of Epcot. Which many fans either eagerly anticipate or fear.

The Disney Parks are ready to create a new World Showcase lagoon show at the conclusion of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. The show debuted in 1999, and Disney won’t close the firework show until the Summer of 2019.

The all-new nighttime fireworks spectacular will be a part of Epcot’s transformation. So the theme is currently unknown similar to the uncertainty surrounding Epcot’s multi-year transformation. Currently, the park is creating a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction, a Ratatouille attraction in France, and a new restaurant adjacent to Mission: SPACE. Rumored Mary Poppins attraction could be coming to the United Kingdom pavilion. Not to mention what Epcot plans on doing with the mostly empty Innoventions buildings. So the new vision for the transformation isn’t clear yet.

Most are speculating that the new show will be similar to World of Color from Disney’s California Adventure. I guess the lagoon draws similarities. It will be interesting if the new fireworks spectacular carries on the spirit of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth or completely changes the approach.

My favorite time watching the spectacular was in December. When the show is called IllumiNations: Peace on Earth. It’s such a fantastic and uplifting show. I hope that I can see Peace on Earth again before its gone.

I’m sure whatever Disney does it will be spectacular. This rumored fireworks show has been in development for a while. I am eager to see the name and story for the new fireworks show.
