If you have read any of my previous work, mostly my story, What it is Really Like to Live Near Disney, you know that I used to live in Orlando. It was truly a dream come true for me to live so close to my favorite place. Well, that stay only lasted about four months before I came back to my hometown. The post-Disney depression kicked in and it kicked in hard.
I had trouble even checking Instagram or Twitter because I was jealous and bitter about everyone’s Disney post. I struggled with not being able to get in my car and drive 40 minutes and be at the Magic Kingdom. I struggled with not being able to get a last minute FastPass for my favorite ride at any given time because I could just go.
So, how do you stay connected to Disney and beat those post-Disney blues?
Well, first I had to tell myself I could not be bitter over others being in the parks and enjoying them. That I should be happy for everyone getting to enjoy the parks and just be happy that I can see their pictures and live through their fun times. That was probably the hardest thing for me to overcome. I love the Disney community on Instagram and I especially love my Disney family on Twitter, who never forgot me and always remembered to check in on me and make me feel loved, even when I took a step back from all things Disney.
Another great way to stay connected is YouTube Videos! There are many Disney vloggers out there with great videos of their park days. Watching them can give you some of the Disney magic that you are missing.
My new favorite way to stay connected is by playing Disney Scene It: 2nd Edition. My boyfriend and I have spent a few game nights battling it out to see who is the Disney champion.. if you do not have the game, I don’t believe they make the games anymore, but they are available for purchase on Amazon and eBay!
Looking back on old trips is also a great way to reminiscence on how much fun you have had and give you hope of the fun that is to come on future trips. When you miss something, it makes the next time you get to go back that much better!
If you are anything like me, you are constantly on the Disney website looking at resort prices, special events going on and planning your next trip daily. Sometimes, you even get to the point where you randomly book a trip one morning for 5 days later.
