I see the question all the time on social media groups and posts. “ I am flying into LAX, what is the best way to get to Anaheim?” So I decided to start a mini-series of articles detailing all of the best and most affordable ways to get from the airport to Disneyland and Universal as well as to travel between Disneyland and Universal without a car. Today I will be focusing on LAX airport to Disneyland. Here are all the ways to get from LAX to Disneyland if you are coming to the resort for a vacation:
This is the option that many people will automatically choose, but depending on your itinerary you may not need a car and all the expenses it brings for your trip. I would only recommend renting a car if you plan on going to other places in Orange County or in the Los Angeles area during your stay.
Rideshare
The next thing many people may opt to do is to get an Uber/Lyft to and from the resort. That option is not bad as it is only a one-time cost each way so it can be much cheaper than renting a car. Depending on the size of your party and how much luggage you have, you may need a larger Uber which could then become costly and add to your expenses.
Take The Train

Now this is an option that I am sure many people do not do, let alone even think of doing, but it is the most affordable and may not be as bad as some people may think. There is an option to take the train to the Anaheim Resort District and it would not take an ungodly amount of time.
First, you would take the Flyaway bus from LAX to Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles. The fare for that bus is $9 per person and buses come every 20 minutes and stop at each terminal at the airport. This is not a normal bus with tons of stops. This bus goes end to end from LAX to Union Station with zero stops in between so it would take the same amount of time as if you were driving there.
Once you get to Union Station you transfer to the Metrolink’s Orange County Line and take it to the Anaheim Regional Transportation Center (ARTIC). Metrolink costs another $8 per person (students ride free) so in total it is about $17 per person for the whole trip. Metrolink is a commuter rail line so it has very few stops in between Downtown Los Angeles and Anaheim. Disney runs a shuttle from ARTIC to the resort itself where you will then complete your journey.
Those are three different options you can choose when coming to visit Disneyland and I hope this article has helped you out with planning your transportation once you arrive. Each option has its pros and cons, but it is always nice to have multiple options when going somewhere.
