Five Mickey Mouse Projects We Want To See

In honor of Mickey Mouse turning 90. Here are five projects we want to see the mouse take on.

It all started with a Mouse. Why not give that world-famous Mouse some projects to do! Today, I come up with five projects for everyone’s favorite Mouse.

Sorcerer Mickey CGI Story

Boardwalk Illustration by Steven Harris

Yes, the sequence made famous during Fantasia. Now let’s get a full story in the style of the Philharmagic where Mickey is no longer the apprentice and is a full-on sorcerer. What kind of chaos can ensue?

A full-length Mickey sorcerer story could be some serious fun. Maybe we get walking brooms and a Yen Sid cameo?

House of Mouse Revival

For all of you who don’t remember. Disney’s House of Mouse ran from 2001 to 2003. The show focused on Mickey Mouse and his friends running a nightclub in Toontown.

Every character from Disney’s animated features appeared on that show. It would be fun to see an updated version. House of Mouse was mindless fun and showcased different animated shorts. Also, in a world where Disney represents a lot of things, it would be good to have another show on Disney+ that just represented the glory of Walt Disney Animation.

Plus, who wouldn’t want to see another episode of Mickey taking down the villains? Or even the episode where they are snowed in at the House of Mouse? Even if they abandoned the original format. Mickey Mouse and the gang in Toontown could create plenty of storylines. Especially with them running a nightclub where all the Disney characters go too.

Classic Mickey Mouse Cartoon short on the big screen

Yes, we may have a new era of Mickey Mouse shorts but there is something about 2013’s Get A Horse short film that I adore. It’s just the classic Mickey and the mixture of creativity. Even though Get A Horse seemed like a one-time thing. It still would be cool if we got some other Mickey Mouse short outside of the new ones being made for TV.

I would love to see more shorts like Get A Horse or more classic style Mickey shorts that can accompany theatrical releases or be on Disney+. I still think Walt Disney Animation could do some more Mickey Mouse shorts projects that use black-and-white hand-drawn animation and color CGI animation.

Mickey Twice Upon A Christmas Reboot

Even though DisneyToon Studios doesn’t exist anymore. Also, CGI technology has vastly improved. It would still be fun to see another CGI Christmas story with these classic characters.

Maybe we can include some new Mickey and Minnie Christmas story? Maybe another Scrooge McDuck Christmas Carol story but done in the new age animation.

A Meeting of the Mickey-verse

Different eras of Mickey Mouse’s meet. Maybe you can include Oswald? You could clash all the art styles. From the black and white Mickey Mouse to the new era Mickey Mouse. It could be a really cool concept. Especially if you include Oswald.

Bonus: Fantasmic film

Sorcerer Mickey battles Chernabog, Ursula, and Maleficent. Are you not already sold? Honestly, you could make it the Walt Disney Animation library’s version of Infinity War. Even though Fantasmic should be a live-action, CGI film. Could you imagine Mickey Mouse and a select few fighting against these legendary villains? It would be epic to see on the big screen.

Hopefully, we get to see some of these Mickey Mouse projects happen soon.
