The show that turned The Muppets into household names is finally arriving on Disney+. Jim Henson’s The Muppet Show will stream on February 19 on Disney+. Disney+ will carry all five seasons of the iconic show.
The Muppet Show originally premiered in 1976 and featured legendary guests such as Steve Martin, Elton John, Liza Minnelli, Alice Cooper, Julie Andrews, Bernadette Peters, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Gene Kelly, and Mark Hamill.
The Muppet Show will be added to The Muppet Collection on Disney+. This is an exciting move for all fans of The Muppets. Ever since Disney+’s launch on November 12, 2019, fans have been clamoring for all five seasons of The Muppet Show and now they finally have it.
In a blog post for Disney Parks Blog, Leigh Slaughter, Vice President of The Muppets Studio and Characters Strategy revealed they were excited to continue on Jim Henson’s legacy by adding his iconic show to Disney+. The blog post also reiterated that The Muppets are a part of Walt Disney Imagineering (which is such a weird combination and I hope Disney addresses the reason why down the line). Slaughter did reveal that there are more plans for The Muppets in the future.
Are you excited for The Muppet Show on Disney+? I know that I’m thrilled to have this series on Disney+. Hopefully, this will lead to more Muppets in the near future.
