The Acolyte has officially finished the first four episodes of its eight-episode season which Lucasfilm head Kathy Kennedy said blew her away. An updated logo has been released and the season is almost finished filming.

Showrunner Leslye Headland wrote Star Wars fan fiction in high school. She previously was the showrunner of Russian Doll on Netflix. She describes the series as being “Frozen meets Kill Bill” and the series will follow the perspective of the villains.

Amandla Stenberg, the star of The Acolyte, took the stage in Padme cosplay alongside cast members, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Joonas Suotamo, Rebecca Henderson and Dean-Charles Chapman. Charlie Barnett and Rebecca Henderson have previously worked with Headland on Russian Doll.

Suotamo will be playing a new Wookie Jedi, not to be confused with current Wookie Jedi Burryaga in the High Republic.

“I’m also a fanatic for Star Wars and my heart is jumping because I’m with the Star Wars family, with all of you today!” said Lee Jung-jae.

The footage that was shown included yellow lightsabers, force action, and a heavy martial arts influence.

The Acolyte is set to release in 2024.
