Disneyland Resort Construction Update: San Fransokyo, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and More
Ethan Becker provides a Disneyland Resort construction update.
Welcome back to another construction update, this time from the Disneyland Resort. In this update, we are going to check up on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, The Adventureland Treehouse, Tiana’s Palace, and San Fransokyo Square.
San Fransokyo Square
San Fransokyo Square is coming along very nicely and will be fully complete by August 31. The first phase opened July 19 and it will continue to open in phases until the end of August. All the restaurants will have refreshed menus and new names. Baymax and Hiro will have their own meet and greet where the beer truck once was. The Tori Gate Bridge is going up as we speak with its columns sprouting just waiting to be painted.
Avengers HQ Gift Shop and Rogers: The Musical
The Avengers gift shop is being worked on as well. They are currently making a new door on the side of the building.
I saw Rogers: The Musical for the first time. This show runs limited time until August 31 unless it gets extended. Disney has said a more permanent show will come at a later date and I have heard that it is coming next summer.
I thought the show was pretty good. I really enjoyed the first and third acts. The second act with Nick Fury is a bit weak in my opinion because Nick Fury does not act like himself and the Avengers are quite odd in their appearances. It definitely took me out of the show for a bit until the third act started, but overall I give the show an 8/10.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Over at the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction, demolition is moving along. There is scaffolding just about everywhere you look and the flume is covered in plywood so the workers can walk around the mountain. The drop is covered in a massive staircase for safety and easy access inside the attraction. The biggest visible change so far is that the tree stump that used to sit atop the attraction is now removed.
Tiana’s Palace
Tiana’s Palace looks gorgeous and ready to open very soon it seems. The popcorn lights have been turned on and add a very nice touch to New Orleans Square. The smoke stacks have been installed and the scrim should be coming down in a few days. I am very excited to have this addition to this area of the park.
Adventureland Treehouse
The Adventureland Treehouse continues its never-ending construction. This better be the most amazing walk-through attraction when it opens since it has been under wraps for so long. At this rate it may not open until late 2023 or dare I say early 2024!! I can’t see what’s happening here due to all the scrim, but my fingers are crossed that things are progressing well and this can open soon.
With that, this Disneyland update has reached its conclusion. I did not make it to Downtown Disney or The Disneyland Hotel this trip to check on those projects, but if you like these updates then I will go back and cover those in the future.
