A new report from Deadline reveals that the National Geographic series The Right Stuff will be moving production from Florida to California for season two.
The Right Stuff has been given $13.7 million to move from Florida to California. The Leonardo DiCaprio produced series has trended on Disney+ a couple of times. Although according to Deadline the series hasn’t really made a big impact on subscribers and that Disney+ has given a renewal for season two.
I would assume with that massive tax break in play that Disney+ would renew The Right Stuff for season two? Disney+ needs original series and content. Plus, when Disney+ issued their first press release for The Right Stuff they specifically talked about subsequent seasons. The Right Stuff relocation move is under the CFC program which also includes Amazon’s Hunters, Netflix’s Lucifer, and Penny Dreadful.
The Disney+ original will generate $51.8 million in below-the-line wages, vendors, and more for the state. Even with COVID-19 safety protocols in place, The Right Stuff season two is aiming to hire 2,204 background players, 173 cast members, and a crew of 214.
The Right Stuff is now streaming on Disney+.
