As The Walt Disney Company continues to find ways to cut costs. They are now taking a strategy from Warner Bros. Discovery and writing off content that wasn’t successful for them. It’s an unfortunate move and it affects the fans, the creatives, and everyone in between. Disney is currently planning on removing these titles from Disney+ and Hulu.

Howard was going to be removed but then Disney realized the optics of removing a documentary about a Disney Legend on the eve of The Little Mermaid live-action remake and a few days away from Pride Month. Howard Ashman is a notable LGBT icon and Disney Legend, and his contributions as a lyricist during the Disney Renaissance were vital to its success.

There could be potentially more pieces of content added to this list in the coming days. That total of $1.5 billion to $1.8 billion is steep, and despite the many titles listed, I don’t think we’ve hit that number yet.

We’re going to write more about this in this month’s newsletter. Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss that edition.

The listed content is expected to be removed next week. More titles could be added in the near future.
